Manchester City telah melgalkan perpanjangan kontrak starlet Brazil Gabriel Jesus yang akan mengikatnya hingga 2023.

Penyerang usia 21 tahun ini direkrut 2017 lalu dari Palmeiras dan sudah mencetak 24 gol dari 53 laga sejauh ini.

“Saya katakan bergabung ke Manchester City adalah keputusan terbaik karena sejak saya disini saya telah berkembang baik sebagai seorang professional maupun sebagai pribadi,” ujarnya pada situs resmi City.

“Saya ingin berterimakasih pada para fans atas sambutannya dan bagaimana mereka memperlakukan saya dengan baik disini. Dan juga pada klub yang begitu terorganisir dan fokus mendatangkan saya.”

Didukung penuh sang pelatih Pep Guardiola penyerang muda ini pun sukses bersaing di lini depan bahkan dengan seniornya Sergio Aguero dalam memimpin lini depan.

Difavoritkan juga oleh pelatih timnas Brazil Tite, Jesus bahkan beberapa kali tampil menjadi starter di Piala Dunia Rusia lalu.

Juga diwawancarai situs resmi klub Direktur Sepakbola City Txiki Begiristain juga menambahkan:

“Gabriel tidak diragukan lagi adalah salah satu penyerang muda terbaik dunia, jadi mempertegas komitmennya kepada kami adalah jelas sebuah langkah besar”

Manchester City have agreed a contract extension with the Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus that will keep him at the club until 2023.

The 21-year-old came to the Etihad in January 2017 from Palmeiras in his homeland and has scored 24 times in 53 games in sky blue since then.

"I can say that it was the best decision I've made in my life to come to Manchester City because whilst I'm here I'm improving as a professional and as a person, he told the club’s official website.

"I would like to thank the fans for the welcome and for how well they have treated me. Also thanks to the club for being so organised and focused since I arrived."

Having been consistently supported readily by Pep Guardiola despite his tender age since his arrival, he managed to compete successfully with the more established Sergio Aguero for the right to lead the City line.

A favourite with the Brazil manager Tite also, he earned the right to be his national team’s first-choice striker at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Also speaking to the club’s official website, their Director of Football Txiki Begiristain added his say:

“Gabriel is undoubtedly one of the best young forwards in world football, so to have him commit his future to us is a huge boost.

“There’s so much variety in his game. I know how much Pep enjoys working with him and I am really looking forward to watching his development in the coming years.”
